Like many families in the Philippines, our family was poor, and we did not grow up with any silver spoon in our mouths. My parents always worked to put food on the table and support our house.
I don't remember my parents buying me a gift on any occasion. Nothing on my birthday, Christmas, or any other occasion. What I remember from my parents is they never forgot to greet me “Happy Birthday,” and my mother would always say to me “Pasensya na Anak. Wala tayong Pambili ng Regalo mo....Kaya Simba nalang Tayo pasalamat sa ArawAraw na Biyaya ng Dyos...”
Remembering how hard it was growing up in the Philippines for me and those around the neighborhood, I told my Mother I had an idea... I asked my Mother, why don't we give a Christmas gift to each neighborhood kid? To my surprise, my Mother said, "Yes, let's do it." We started giving gifts in 2015. Every year after, my Mother reminded me, "don't forget the kids on Christmas."
My Mother died in 2019, and in 2021 we spent New Year in my Mother's house. I was shocked as kids in the neighborhood came to the house looking for my Mother, looking for Christmas gifts.
We told the kids “wala na si Lola Umuwi na Kay Lord.”
The kids were heartbroken as they looked forward to the Christmas gifts from my Mother, and they left sad and broken. I remember their faces and the look of disappointment and what I had experienced growing up with no gifts on Christmas Day.
Now that we are through the pandemic and restrictions are lifted, I decided this year I want to do this again to remember my Mother and do something for the inmates.
But to do this, I had to pray before the Lord and cry out for a blessing in this mission.
I asked the Lord to bless me with the resources for this mission to honor my Mother and the Kingdom of God. I cried out for this mission for the kids and inmates, and God gave me favor.
Dec 24, we will give 260 kids Christmas gifts.
Dec 27, we will feed the Inmates, estimated around 200+, and supply Christian reading materials.
Please continue to pray for us and God's mission
Thank You & God Blessed
